Surrender Chad...seriously
This came in my devotional from church this morning:
"Surrender is simply casting your heart in all its humanness in faith to God the Father (in any situation, for any reason). Eyes closed, muscles tensed, we let go. As our fingers relax their hold on our situation, we exhale with relief and recklessly abandon worries and cares, small or great. God puts them up onto the Solid Rock and sees us through somehow. Our Father knows the 'somehow.'"
I'm trying to learn to surrender. Seriously. I don't want to be known as a man that has to have his own way and not God's. I have a running list in my mind of things that I need direction and guidance on from the Lord... now if I would just truly give that list up to Him and let Him become the master instead of me attempting to keep my grubby hands on everything.
Want a few specifics? Read on.
More than anything, I want:
- to be a man of God.
- to be a Godly husband
- to really KNOW the Lord
- to have a strong prayer life
- to start a family sooner rather than much later
- to be done with school
- to be used by God to help strengthen marriages
- to write new curriculum and market it without letting pride take over
- to deepen existing friendships
- to continue developing new friendships at Southland
- to get in better shape physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually
- to be a witness to my coworkers
- to know why Krispy Kreme can't make a low fat donut
With that said, I've been listening to "Breathe" by Thousand Foot Krutch over and over this morning. Here are two sections of the song:
I've always been strong
But can't make this happen
'Cause I need to breathe, I want to breathe you in
The fear of becoming
I'm so tired of running
And I need to breathe, I want to breathe you in
I want to breathe you in
...
Took awhile to see all the love that's around me
Through the highs and lows there's a truth that I've known
And it's You

LOL...
embrace the fat!!! :P
surrender... tough stuff. good thoughts bro. Reminds me of the idea that you don't go asking God to bless you in what you are doing... instead, you find where God is already working and join Him. :) See where God wants to change you and let Him do it, etc.
